Adelaide Hills

Put the Adelaide Hills on your itinerary and head to the town of Hahndorf. Founded by Prussian migrants in 1839, it is Australia’s oldest German settlement. German food is plentiful and you will be spoilt for choice.

Step inside The Cedars at Hahndorf. Home to the late Sir Hans Heysen, the studio is open to visitors. Cloudy glass paint bottles and brushes stand frozen in the moment, just as they were left when Heysen passed away in 1968.

A feast of festivals

South Australia prides itself on art and culture. Book your holiday to coincide with one of the many art and cultural festivals. There’s the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Film Festival, Cabaret Festival and Feast Festival.

Experience the sounds of the planet at the WOMADelaide world music festival. Relax under a canopy of stars and Moreton Bay fig trees, as you take in the music at Botanic Park. International artists come together to perform their unique brand of music at this four day event.

Be entertained by the hundreds of acts at the Adelaide Fringe. Follow the fanfare at night to the colourful and quirky Garden of Unearthly Delights. See sword swallowers, human oddities and a rotating schedule of sideshow acts.

Take a good look around

South Australia is a creative state. Galleries and studios are spread across every region. Take a good look around the regions section of the website for more art culture and lifestyle information.
